Announcing Summer Story Hour 2008

Beginning June 7, 2008 join the City Park Alliance, Denver Parks & Rec and the Tattered Cover Bookstore for Saturday morning Story Hour in City Park. Local community leaders will read and share stories. Children, grandchildren, nieces/nephews, and neighbors should all come along! After the stories kids can enjoy cookies and lemonade. Each week one lucky family can win a copy of one of the books read.

Story Hour will begin at 10 am and wrap up at 11 am on June 7, 14, 21, 28 and on July 5. Story Hour will take place outside the historic Graham-Bible House on the west side of City Park at the corner of 21st and York. Parking is available in the Park and along 21st Avenue.

2008 marks the third year City Park Alliance has presented Story Hour, and each year the program’s popularity grows. In 2007, readers included Colorado First Lady Jeanne Ritter, City Councilman Michael Hancock, School Board Member Jeanne Kaplan as well as other local leaders. Be sure to join us this year to see what’s in store!

The City Park Alliance (CPA) is a non-profit organization dedicated to revitalization and restoring the Park, as well as facilitating community use. CPA works closely with the Denver Department of Parks and Recreation and has partnered with neighbor the Tattered Cover Bookstore to present Story Hour.

City Park Alliance Fundraiser

Fifty plus members of the community surrounding City Park gathered for a fundraiser at Roz Wheeler-Bell's beautiful Park Hill home this summer to learn more about City Park Alliance. Updates were available on the Mile High Loop, the Electric Fountain, the Montclair Project, and the restoration of the beautiful gardens which are an historical part of the park. Donations made at the event will help City Park Alliance achieve its mission and build a stronger organization.

City Park Alliance Presence at Farmer's Market

Throughout the summer, City Park Alliance has had a booth at the Farmer’s Market held on the East High School Esplanade every Sunday from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. The booth has displays of Alliance events and projects in City Park. By having a booth, board members have had a chance to explain the goals and mission of City Park Alliance to people who stop to look at the displays and pick up Alliance brochures and literature. On sale at the booth are City Park Alliance tee shirts and stationary.
